About Me

I have built a diverse and rewarding career working across schools, colleges, and county councils, giving me a broad depth of experience supporting learners from a wide range of backgrounds. This allows me to adapt my teaching style to meet each student at their own level of understanding, confidence, and personal learning needs.

I hold an MSc in Psychology and have taught AQA and BTEC Psychology to Sixth Form students. My approach is highly student-centred, focusing not only on subject knowledge but also on helping learners strengthen their metacognitive skills—understanding how they learn best. Drawing from my background in counselling and CBT, I offer tailored strategies that support both learning progress and effective exam technique.

Tutoring Experience

I have extensive experience teaching across a wide range of ages and educational settings, including:

Teaching across Key Stages 1, 2, 3 and 4, and more recently Sixth Form
Supporting primary-aged children with additional needs
Working as an Academic Mentor through the National Tutoring Programme, providing personalised learning plans for each student
Successfully tutoring students experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA), creating safe and supportive learning environments
Tutoring students who are out of school through Local Authorities, including learners with EHCPs, covering Functional Skills, Maths, and English
Teaching NCFE Counselling Level 1 and 2, with the knowledge and experience to teach Level 3 for adult learners (19+)

My Tutoring Approach

My teaching is designed around the individual learner. I begin with the student’s current level of knowledge and confidence, then build their understanding through structured support and appropriate scaffolding.

I use a mix of visual, auditory, and written techniques, recognising that every student learns differently. I work closely with each learner to identify their strengths, address barriers, and create a clear plan for progression.

I also encourage ongoing feedback, ensuring sessions remain flexible and responsive—so the support I provide continues to fit the student’s evolving needs and learning style.
